Is there a thinner you can buy or a household item that will thin nail polish that has gotten a little too thick??? I have a color that I love that I can't find anymore of in the stores, so thinning it would give me some extra mileage with what I have left!Can you thin thickening nail polish?
Acetone is the chemical used in polish as well as remover.

Add nail polish remover to your nail polish
apart from the remover, you can also add the Acetone, which works as good as the remover, and available cheaply at any drug store
