Does clear nail polish work on ringworms?

If you haven't done anything to try to cure it, the nail polish can work. By covering it with the clear polish air can't get in and the fungus cannot breathe and therefore cannot live. Sounds like it makes sense to me. But please don't do this if you've tried other things already. I did once after trying creams that were working slow (4 weeks is way too long to have a ringworm). What happened was the creams had started to work and kinda turned the ringworm into a sore so when I put the clear polish on it, I caused a very painful chemical burn. But if it's fresh and the little bumps haven't popped or come open, the polish can definitely work. Good Luck!!Does clear nail polish work on ringworms?
nail polish does work, also works on warts, but dont use nail polish if you tried bleach, vinger or any other chemical. you have to use neosporin and heal the chemical burn that you gave yourself. the spot will go away with 24 hours , and most likly the ringworm will be gone. Report Abuse

Nail polish won't work. Ringworm is a lot like athletes foot and will be cured by athletes foot medication. Micatin spray works well. If it doesn't work the problem may actually be something else and you should see a doctor.
any over the counter antifungal treatment will work. Ringworm is not a worm it is a fungus. I doubt nailpolish would work
Nail polish has solvents.

That will hurt you badly.

Please use a good anti fungal OTC formula.

';Ringworm'; is not actually a worm; it is a fungal infection of the skin. Like 'fairy rings' on a field, the fungus has a central point and the ring that forms around the central part is what you see on the skin.

You definitely need an antifungal cream from a doctor to get rid of it. It is quite contagious, so avoid touching other people until it is gone.
i dont think so... but the athletes foot cream, lotrimin (clotrimazole), does work.
No - go to the Dr and get a medicated cream. Our doc put us on an anti-fungal pill - the one is on the commercials - you know with Digger.
Not sure what you mean by work...it may help with the itching and spreading, but it takes a medicine that is a fungicide to kill ringworm, because it is a fungus. And you can get the cream at Wal-Mart, Wal-greens, etc. It is like killing athlete's foot or jock itch...fungicide will do it.
Ringworm is a fungus. You need some anti fungal over the counter medication; similar to that you might use for athlete's foot.
YES......... NAIL POLISH CONTAINS ACETONE WHICH IS AN ORGANIC SOLVENT, SO IT DEHYDRATE THE SKIN AND FUNGAL HYPHAE SO, FUNGUS CANT SURVIVE IN ABSENCE OF MOISTURE, HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE ARE ESSENTIAL FOR SURVIVAL. TEMPERATURE IS ALSO LOWER DOWN BY THE ACETONE, NOT ONLY ACETONE, ETHER, ALCOHOL ARE ALSO HAVE SIMILAR PROPERTIES.

HOPE I COULD BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN MECHANISM.
Don't believe that crap. Get cream from the Drug store.
no,go to the doctor and get some cream
